What is the difference between on-hire and off-hire surveys?+
An on-hire survey records the vessel's condition and bunkers when a charter begins; an off-hire survey records them at redelivery. The comparison resolves hire and damage disputes.
Is this a class or statutory survey?+
No. A condition survey is an independent commercial inspection. It complements, but does not replace, classification society and statutory surveys.
